What are the materials of New Energy Vehicle Battery Cooling Device?

1. Aluminum alloy: Because of its features such as light weight together with high strength and high coefficient of thermal conductivity, aluminum alloy is widely used for manufacturing of battery heat dissipation shells. For example 6061 and 6063 series aluminum alloys are commonly used as battery heat dissipation shell materials because they possess superior mechanical characteristics and are easy to process and model.
2. Copper alloy: As for thermal conductivity, copper alloy is very high and the material can transfer heat better as compared with other standard brackets. While copper’s alloys afford the maximum corrosion protection, they are heavier and relatively expensive, and in some applications depending on their weight or cost may not be preferred.
3. magnesium alloys: Magnesium alloys are as follows: a lightweight material that has excellent thermal conductivity and high strength property. Corrosion resistance is the main issue with magnesium alloys since they are less resistant to corrosion and this is rectified through surface modification.
4. Carbon Fiber Composites: According to the performance characteristics of carbon fiber reinforced composites with light weight, high strength, and good high temperature stability mechanical properties, excellent heat dissipation and light weight and other advantages. However, carbon fiber composites are costly and difficult to process although they offer great strength to the frame of the bike.
5. Ceramic materials: Certain high-performance ceramic materials were demonstrated to exhibit high thermal conductivity and high strength, however, these materials are always associated with very low ductility or toughness, very difficult to shape into more complex forms and expensive.
6. Metal-ceramic composites: Metals and ceramics combined give a material that can support great heat flow and great load-bearing properties, all in one. However, this material is more expensive and it is more challenging to work with as compared to the non-coated material.

The material which can be used for moulding depends with the specifications required for the given purpose, cost constraint and the technique of manufacturing. Another factor considered in designing a heat dissipation enclosure of a new energy battery is the coefficients of the material’s thermal expansion, mechanical properties of the material used, corrosion resistance of material, and type of compatibility with the used battery material.
